THE PROJECT

 

The RESIDENTIAL ACADEMY was established by Genova International School of Soccer in August 2009 in Zanè (Vicenza), Northern Italy. The program is an exclusive operation that has been designed to cater to promising young footballers wanting a career pathway. Players are chosen from GISS academies worldwide and trials via the I.D camps. Now GISS has one permanents academies in Ovada.

 

For the duration of the program the players are given a chance of a lifetime: to be able to live their dreams, living the life of a professional European footballer, living and breathing football everyday at the highest level possible. GISS in Italy has seen many players come through our program that have gone on to become professional players.

 

The academy has helped players to develop thier skills and to help them acclimatize to the conditions and level of European football. GISS has not only placed players to pro clubs in Italy but also to other football nations such as United Kingdom, Hungary, Spain, Greece, Romania, Switzerland, Singapore and Turkey.

 

 

THE PROGRAM

 

Players train 6 days per week with morning sessions on most days. Official friendly games are played every Wednesday or Thursday against teams of serie A, B, Lega Pro and Serie D clubs.

 

Sunday is a rest day for players and on they are given the opportunity to watch other teams play or participate on excursions in the region.

 

 

OBJECTIVES

 

• Create a pathway for players to achieve their dreams of playing football at a professional level

• Assist participants to develop and rapidly, to adjust and acclimatise to the Italian football culture by providing a stepping stone in Europe with a large network to professional clubs

• Support players through the transition from moving out of home to living independently whilst at the same time build their football network

GISS SPORT COMPLEXES

 

Our sport center have a nice grass and synthetic field, indoor soccer and tennis courts, dorms on sight, walk into town and train station.

Ovada is a quiet and little town in southern Piedmont. Many come to enjoy the natural beauty of its scenic hills, woods and placid, clean rivers.

 

The historic town center is endowed with ancient, graceful churches, historic buildings and relaxing green areas. From Ovada it is possible to go hiking, trekking and cycling. And in the summer, if you need to relax, you could always enjoy a swim in the local fresh rivers.  

 

Cities like Milan, Genoa, Turin, Monaco are really close to the training centers and the beach is a 30 minute drive away from Ovada. The closest airports are Genoa “Cristoforo Colombo” Airport and Milano Malpensa.

 

 

SHORT OR LONG TERMS STAYS

 

Some players chose to attend the program during their summer breaks and stay a minimum of one month, however most players seeking a career pathway choose to stay a minimum of three months with some players staying an entire season allowing them to fully prepare for the transition into a club after trials.

 

Trials are offered to a player when a club scout or our staff recommends the player for trials.  Some players require more time to develop and stays in the Residential Program will vary from player to player. For shorter than one month stays we recommend players attend one of our many tours.

 

Fees reflect the length of commitment. A player committing to a minimum of three or more months pays less than a player attending for one month. Fees are per calendar month and players will be required to arrive/depart on 1st or 15th of month.  

Players arriving outside these days will be required to make their own way to the training facility or pay an additional fee for pickup or drop off to Genoa, Malpensa or Linate airports.
